Creator Spotlight : Accidental Fire
Today we are going to mix it up a bit and focus on a fellow blogger that is lighting up the financial independence world (how could I resist such a terrible pun?). I hope to do more of these spotlights as I continue to stumble on inspirations out in the blog space.
I check in on a few blogs now and again and have really started digging on AccidentalFire.com. Accidental Fire (Financially Independent Retired Early) chronicals the daily passions of a super energetic dude who focuses his life on working hard and enjoying intense outdoor actives instead of adorning himself in the luxuries that his skills and career could easily afford.
The author of Accidental Fire decided to part ways with his peers early in life moving from the financial sink hole of Baltimore’s party district into the modest home of his late grandmother “Nonnie”. At a starting salary of $20,000, he began setting a simplistic standard of living which didn’t grow even when his salary grew through early career success. And what’s the result of this simplistic lifestyle coupled with disciplined savings? Turns out, when you buck the norm of your peers and decide to embrace savings inflation instead of lifestyle inflation, you wake up one morning surprisingly financially independent; and thus the name, Accidental Fire.
Ok, so what makes this blog C&C-worthy in an ocean of other personal finance blogs? AccidentalFire is a living example of what I‘ve been writing about in The Creator’s Path to Financial Independence series. Instead of using his income to buy comfort and status, he used it to buy his freedom. And just because he doesn’t need to work anymore doesn’t mean he spends his days eating takeout and watching Netflix. The author continues to work part time, blog, travel, review books, and hike/run/cycle thousands of miles a year along with many other eccentricities. My favorite is his good-natured (and much needed) satirical newsfeed he calls Turnip Fire! where he pokes fun at both the financial independence community as well as skeptics of the movement.
Oh, and in his free time… he runs an ever growing graphic design shop. Some of his creative designed could have come right out of a C&C post title, so I had to at least pick up some stickers!
So, Mr. Accidental Fire, you may identify yourself as accidentally financially independent, but I hereby deem you an accidental Creator!
Keep it up and keep in touch!
Thanks so much for the highlight and for sporting my stickers!!
